And They're Off!

Another summer vacation has come and quickly gone.

Didn't we spend Memorial Day weekend in Hershey, PA...last week?

Weren't the Fourth of July barbecues...this past weekend? And our trip to New York to see Zarkana...yesterday?

My birthday in late August always marked the end of summer to me, and this year (as always) my husband made it really special -- barbecue-ing a dinner for 10 people featuring grilled artichokes and chuck steaks, even after having to re-schedule by a week due to REALLY bad weather.

Yes, this summer seems to have been forced into an early retreat. Since Irene barreled through, the nights have definitely been chillier; and hot, humid days have become much fewer and farther between than we usually experience here in New Jersey at this time of year.

And then suddenly one daughter was starting 10th grade, and the other heading off to 5th. I'm very glad to say that they both had exceptionally happy first-days-of-school today, and are looking forward to the school year.
