Big, Ugly Granny

I am in awe of crocheters who incorporate their scrap yarn into beautiful granny square afghans. I so admire their patience and skill in putting colors together to create works of art out of leftover yarn.

Me? I'm currently putting my leftover yarn into a hideous giant granny square, rife with reminders of projects gone bad. Of course there are also patches of stitches in there that remind me, "Oh, yes, I remember! That came from a nice hat/sweater/pair of gloves!"

But on the whole, the big, ugly granny is a disturbing mishmash of colors. It'll be warm, though. And I won't mind if the dogs cuddle under it.

Many years ago, my sister crocheted a giant granny scrap blanket and I disparagingly referred to it as the "puke blanket." I should apologize to her. This one is far more nauseating!

I don't know if it's the way you took the picture or not, but I love your granny. Granny squares are the easiest block to make. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Charlotte. I "twirled" it in Photoshop to try to mix the colors up a little more. A very happy new year to you as well!
